It's Official, ASSEMBLY HAS BEGUN!
With that being said, this update has some good and some not so great news.
The Good:
As of this week, we are now starting to FINALLY assemble parts. It's no secret we have been waiting for some time for hardware, seats, and frames to arrive but we now have almost everything to complete the bike and ship it to your door under our own roof!
For whatever reason, we have had multiple shipments be delayed by customs, sometimes up to 2 full weeks, obviously keeping us from putting any bikes together. Tires are getting mounted to rims, front hubs are getting their spacer tubes and bearings, the frames are receiving their headset bearing seats in preparation for the front end to be installed, and batteries have been quality checked to make sure cells are looking healthy and ready to deliver some serious power. Lastly, controllers are programmed, their boxes are being slathered with thermal compound, screws torqued, and harnesses mated to them.
After all of our time working on this project, we're all extremely excited to see the first glimpse of bikes getting ready to get shipping labels printed and delivered to your doorsteps.
The NOT SO Good:
While on topic about the controller, we want to talk about the last piece of the puzzle that everyone is waiting on, the peripherals/power wiring harness. Julian, our Chief Engineer, has been building each prototype and pre-production bike's harness by hand since the conception of the project. This obviously wasn't the route to go with moving forward as it is too time consuming and opens up for human error.
Since deciding to have the harness manufactured, we have now had 2 samples that both needed revision and are waiting for the last proof to come in the next few days. Being hopefully somewhat obvious, the wiring on an electric product is semi-important to its success on operation! We are incredibly sorry that we have been delayed and held up by this, but it is a part of the bike that cannot have flaws or be incorrectly made/installed.
With that being said, we are incredibly excited to see the finish line with everyone and expect to see bikes begin shipping in the coming weeks!
We appreciate everyone who has endured this wait while we get these things made. Believe us when we say that our intentions were not to be delivering this late in the year. With all of the hurdles, shipping difficulties, and product iteration needed for something like this, it is hard to know exactly how long a delay on one thing can affect an entire project. We cannot stress how much appreciation we have for the people that have been patient, stuck with the project, and made time to come to our warehouse/events to try and talk about the bike with us! You guys keep us excited to be doing what we're doing and we cannot wait to cross the finish line together with you all!
